How many patients are in the sleep lab?

Last night around 8 pm, I received a call from a sleep-lab tech who was overwhelmed. He had admitted patients to the sleep lab who's insurances were not verified. The patients were not pre-reg-ed either. Oh my goodness. I walked over to the sleep lab cabinet and pulled the files of the four patients. Yep, the day shift forgot to verify the insurance and call the patients. SOOooooo, I verified the insurance of all the patients and even had to send one patient home since he did not have a referral. Oh my goodness. So the sleep tech asked me to call the patient and tell him which I did. I actually called the patients while they were resting in their comfy beds. The patient I had to send home took the news very well since I explained why the referral was so important. Then I had to collect the co-payments over the phone, pre-reg patients and scan the paperwork. Fax the receipts to the patients for their records. I was in my car by 10:01 pm. Therapy session over. I'll send myself a small bill.

Did you at least fool with the person who called you? You might have said he was in for it now, or something classic like that.
