Mark and I decided to have breakfast at Van Dykes located on Lincoln Road Mall, Miami Beach. Below is a link to the Miami Herald of what happened while we were in traffic.

Please copy and paste the link above. Wow, how could this have happened? The sun was in our eyes as we were headed to breakfast; however, we still drove carefully. We arrived shortly after the accident happened and the ambulances were transporting the injured cyclists.
Wow, thank Heaven you did not leave your house earlier. You just never know, do you . . .
ReplyDeleteDid you make it to Van Dyke's?
Yes we did. The taxi driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. His wife also told the media he is a diabetic which may have contributed to the accident. All vehicles were forced of the MacArthur Causeway at Fountain Street near the Yacht Club. We decided to take I-95 which was a breeze.
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad you guys were only inconvenienced by traffic and not involved any further.
ReplyDeleteM knows so many short cuts in this county. The back of his hand and a map of the county must look very similar to him. I'm so envious. I inherited my sense of direction from Momas and she didn't have one.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I like to bicycle at that park area where you and I ride at. The chance of being hit by a taxi when the driver is suffering from diabetic shock is much less going to happen. I wouldn't try going across the street to the north or to the south for that matter. I wouldn't advise going across the highway either. Where we go is about the extend to it when we ride.
